January 21, 2023 – St. John’s, NL: Eastern Health advises the public that the emergency services at the Dr. Walter Templeman Health Care Centre on Bell Island will be temporarily closed due to current human resource challenges. The temporary closures will take place on:

Sunday, January 22, 2023, at 8:00 a.m. to Monday, January 23, 2023, at 8:00 a.m.
Friday, January 27, 2023, at 8:00 a.m. to Monday, January 30, 2023, at 8:00 a.m.

Patients with a medical emergency who require an ambulance should call 911 for transportation to a city hospital. Those who feel they have a serious or urgent medical problem should proceed to an Emergency Department in St. John’s. Eastern Health Services Impacted Due to Adverse Weather

January 21, 2023 – St. John’s, NL: Eastern Health advises the public of the following service changes for today, Saturday, January 21, 2023, due to adverse weather this weekend:

• The community walk-in clinic, located at 50 Mundy Pond Rd, St. John’s, will be closed.

• The collaborative team clinic centre, located at 7 Pippy Place, St. John’s, will be closed.

• The COVID-19 vaccination clinic for children aged six months to 11 years old at Mount Pearl Square will be closed. Clients will be contacted to reschedule their appointments. In addition, clients may rebook online at www.gov.nl.ca/covid-19/vaccine/gettheshot/.

• In addition, the planned closure of both the external and internal entrances to the emergency department at the Health Sciences Centre on Sunday, January 22, 2023 has been postponed. December 28, 2021 – St. John’s, NL:  Eastern Health advises the public that visitation is temporarily suspended on 5 South B at the Health Sciences Centre.

Visitor Restrictions in Place on Unit at Caribou Memorial Veterans Pavilion

December 26, 2021 – St. John’s, NL:  Eastern Health advises the public that visitation is temporarily suspended on unit 2 South at Caribou Memorial Veterans Pavilion.

Occupational Health has conducted contact tracing for all employees. All staff have been working in full protective personal equipment and there have been no staffing restrictions. Infection Prevention and Control (IPAC) has advised there is no known impact to residents at this time. All residents on the unit have been put on isolation and have been tested. Eastern Health Proceeding with Radiation Treatment for Cancer Patients

November 6, 2021 – St. John’s, NL: Eastern Health advises that it is proceeding with radiation therapy treatments for cancer patients starting this evening, Saturday, November 6, 2021, following confirmation from the Newfoundland and Labrador Centre for Health Information (NLCHI) that the IT system for radiation oncology is now functional. The IT system for oncology is used by staff of the Cancer Care Program to communicate, document, plan, order and deliver cancer care services to the residents of Newfoundland and Labrador. Phone Lines Impacted at Carbonear General Hospital

October 6, 2021 – St. John’s, NL:  Eastern Health advises the public that Carbonear General Hospital is currently experiencing problems with its inbound and outbound phone lines. The public are able to call the main switchboard at (709) 945-6246. In addition, Carbonear residents needing to call the fire department, should dial 911 as the direct lines are also experiencing problems. Private Josiah Squibb Memorial Pavillion is unaffected.
