Visitor Restrictions in Place at Blue Crest Nursing Home

March 6, 2022 – St. John’s, NL: Eastern Health advises the public that visitation is temporarily suspended at Blue Crest Nursing Home in Grand Bank, due to suspected cases of COVID-19 among residents.

In certain exceptional circumstances, when determined by the health-care team, residents may be permitted one essential visitor/support person while visitor restrictions are in place, consistent with Eastern Health’s Family Presence and General Visitation policy. Palliative care and end-of-life visitation should also be discussed with the health-care team.

Immediate family members may contact their assigned unit or the site at 709-832-1660 for further information.

This is a temporary measure to assist in reducing the spread of COVID-19 and will be reassessed regularly to determine when visitation can safely resume.

Visitor restrictions during the pandemic have been critically important to the safety of our residents, patients, staff and physicians. For more information about visitation guidelines, please visit the ‘Visiting during the COVID-19 pandemic’ webpage via https://www.easternhealth.ca/covid19/visiting-during-the-covid-19-pandemic/.

The public is asked not to visit any long-term care facility if they feel ill or are symptomatic. For infection prevention, the public is advised to wash their hands frequently, cover their coughs or sneezes with a tissue or the crook of their arms and refrain from touching their faces.

Eastern Health thanks the public for their support and reminds them of the importance of continuing to follow public health guidance to protect themselves, their loved ones, and their communities. These precautions are designed to help keep patients, clients, residents, visitors, staff and physicians safe and help in the prevention and spread of infection.

For up-to-date information on visitor restrictions and precautions, please refer to the Eastern Health website at www.easternhealth.ca/visitors/visitor-precautions-and-outbreaks/. Eastern Health apologizes for any inconvenience this may cause.
