Visitor Restrictions in Place at Caribou Memorial Veterans Pavilion

September 9, 2021 – St. John’s, NL:  Eastern Health advises the public that visitation is temporarily suspended at the Caribou Memorial Veterans Pavilion following a new case of COVID-19 identified in the Eastern Health region. The unit affected has been put on isolation and all residents are being tested. Contact tracing is ongoing and anyone who is considered to be a close contact will be notified.

In certain exceptional circumstances when determined by the health-care team, residents may be permitted one essential visitor/support person while visitor restrictions are in place, consistent with Eastern Health’s Family Presence and General Visitation policy. Palliative care and end-of-life visitation should also be discussed with the health-care team.

Eastern Health continues to be diligent in its management of this public health emergency. Enhanced cleaning protocols have been implemented and infection prevention and control protocols are being followed. Updates on visitor restrictions will also be provided, as required.

Visitor restrictions during the pandemic have been critically important to the safety of our residents, patients, staff and physicians. We would like to thank the public for their understanding and co-operation during this time. Quality care remains a priority for Eastern Health as we continue to work through this pandemic.
