May 3, 2022 – St. John’s, NL: Eastern Health advises that appointments are now available for individuals who are eligible for COVID-19 second vaccination boosters. The second booster dose should be administered at a minimum of 20 weeks after the first booster dose was administered. Those eligible for the second booster are:
- Adults 70 years of age and over;
- All residents living in long-term care or other senior congregate living facilities; and
- Individuals 18 years of age and older that identify as Indigenous or live in remote/isolated communities.
In addition, COVID-19 vaccination first booster appointments are available for children aged 12 to 17 years. It is important to note that the interval for first booster dose is a minimum of 22 weeks from completion of second dose.
Individuals may book appointments at clinics throughout the Eastern Health region by visiting www.gov.nl.ca/covid-19/vaccine/gettheshot/. The public is reminded that they should not schedule an appointment for a vaccine if they are a close contact of a case and are isolating or if they are experiencing symptoms of COVID-19. If they are experiencing symptoms, they should complete a COVID-19 Assessment by clicking here. We continue to add more appointments regularly and encourage individuals to continue to check availability, as needed.
Significant efforts have been made to ensure that public health measures are in place for the protection of those receiving their vaccines as well as for health-care staff. Individuals will be screened for COVID-19 symptoms at the entrance, be required to wear a mask, and observe good infection prevention and control practices.
