September 1, 2022 – St. John’s, NL: Eastern Health advises the public that emergency services at the U.S. Memorial Health Centre in St. Lawrence will be temporarily closed due to current human resource challenges. The temporary closure will take place from:
- Friday, September 2 at 8:00 a.m. to Monday, September 5 at 8:00 a.m.
Patients requiring emergency services should call 911 or proceed to the Burin Peninsula Health Care Centre, or the Dr. S. Beckley Clinic in Grand Bank if they feel they have a serious or urgent medical problem.
If you are unsure whether you or a loved one should go to the Emergency Department, please call the NL Health Line at 811 to speak with a registered nurse 24 hours, seven days a week. The HealthLine also has a nurse practitioner (NP) virtual care service that can prevent unnecessary emergency room visits for non-emergent issues. Appointments with NPs over the phone or by video are available everyday 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., including weekends. Please note that, depending on appointment availability, it could take up to three days to see the 811 NP.
If you are experiencing a mental health crisis, please call the NL Health Line at 811.
Family practice clinics and outpatient laboratory services, such as blood collection and X-ray, will continue to be available by appointment at the U.S. Memorial Health Centre.
