December 1, 2022 – St. John’s, NL: Eastern Health advises the public of permanent changes to facilitate the flow of traffic in front of the Health Sciences Centre main and emergency department entrances, the Dr. H. Bliss Murphy Centre entrance and the Molecular Imaging Facility entrance. These measures are necessary to facilitate construction work for the recently announced emergency expansion project and help assist with patient and visitor drop off. These changes will be in effect on Saturday, December 3, 2022.
The changes are as follows:
- Vehicular traffic on Mosdell Road, from the intersection of Warner’s Road Extension running to the North intersection of Clinch Crescent (adjacent to the Molecular Imaging Facility and near the helipad) will become one way only. The direction of travel will be from Warner’s Road Extension to the North Clinch Crescent and Mosdell Road intersection.
- Vehicles will only be able to approach the main entrance via Mosdell Road at the South intersection with Clinch Crescent (near Ronald McDonald House).
- Patients and visitors will no longer be able to enter Mosdell Road from the North intersection with Clinch Crescent (adjacent to the Molecular Imaging Facility and near the helipad).
- Patients and visitors exiting the public parking lot in front of the Dr. H. Bliss Murphy Cancer Centre must now only turn left to exit the parking lot. Due to the traffic flow changes, right turns are no longer permitted.
These new changes to traffic flow will be marked both on the roadway with paint and with signage. As well, Paladin Security will be on site to provide assistance as needed. As always, patients and visitors are reminded to adhere to posted speed limit signs.
Eastern Health thanks the public for their cooperation throughout the construction period.
