April 14, 2023: Newfoundland and Labrador Health Services advises that spring COVID-19 vaccination clinics will be available throughout the province beginning on April 17, 2023. COVID-19 bivalent vaccine will be offered as a spring booster dose to those individuals who are eligible:
- Adults 80 years of age and older;
- Adult residents of long-term care facilities and other senior congregate living facilities;
- Adults 18 years of age and older who are moderately to severely immunocompromised; and
- Adults 65 to 79 years of age, particularly if they do not have a known prior history of COVID-19 infection.
The spring booster dose is recommended for eligible individuals at least six months from the last dose of COVID-19 vaccine administered. Eligible individuals 12 years of age and older can also receive COVID-19 vaccine, including bivalent booster doses, at participating pharmacies and physicians’ offices free-of-charge.
The public is reminded that they should not schedule an appointment for a vaccine if they are experiencing symptoms of COVID-19. If they are experiencing symptoms, they should complete a COVID-19 Assessment by clicking here.
Public health measures continue to be in place for the protection of those receiving their vaccines as well as for health-care staff. Individuals are required to self-screen for COVID-19 symptoms at the entrance, be required to wear a mask, and observe good infection prevention and control practices.
