Temporary Changes at Emergency Entrance of St. Clare’s Mercy Hospital

August 27, 2021 – St. John’s, NL: Eastern Health informs the public of upcoming temporary changes at the entrance of the emergency department of St. Clare’s Mercy Hospital. A crane will be on site to lift materials from the roof of the building on Sunday, August 29, 2021, from 7:00 a.m. until approximately 12:00 p.m.

During this time, public and emergency vehicles should proceed through the emergency driveway via LeMarchant Road. Traffic control personnel will be onsite to aid with traffic flow. The emergency department entrance will remain open for pedestrian access via St. Clare Avenue. Patients, clients, and visitors will continue to be able to access the facility through the emergency entrance during construction. Access to the emergency department from within the building will not be affected.

The accessible entrance into the emergency department will be temporarily unavailable. Individuals requiring wheelchair access should use the main entrance, facing Ricketts Road. A small number of parking spaces within the courtyard will be temporarily unavailable, including three blue zone parking spaces. Blue zone parking spaces are available in the main visitor parking lot, as well as directly across from the main hospital entrance on Ricketts Road.

Safeguards will be in place; however, the public is advised to proceed with caution and to follow posted signage in the area.
