Eastern Health Provides Update on Outpatient Services at Waterford Hospital

May 29, 2022 – St. John’s, NL: Eastern Health advises the public that all outpatient appointments and services at the Waterford Hospital, scheduled for Monday, May 30, 2022 have been cancelled, following a fire that occurred on Saturday, May 28, 2022.

Patients and clients will be contacted by their health-care team to reschedule their appointment. Scheduled telephone/virtual appointments are proceeding; patients and clients with booked in-person appointments for Monday, May 30, 2022, will be contacted and offered telephone/virtual sessions, where possible.

Eastern Health also reminds the public that temporary visitor restrictions remain in place at the Waterford Hospital. At this time, the public is asked not to visit the facility and an update will be provided when visitation can safely resume.

The fire, which occurred on one of the inpatient units at the Waterford Hospital, was contained on Saturday, May 28, 2022. All patients are safe and there are no reported injuries as a result of this incident.

Individuals who are experiencing a mental health crisis or needing mental health support should call the NL HealthLine at 811. In case of emergency, go to the nearest Emergency Department or call 911 for an ambulance.
