Updates to Visitor Restrictions at Acute and Long-Term Care Facilities

March 25, 2022 – St. John’s, NL: Eastern Health advises the public of changes to temporary visitor restrictions at the following long-term and acute care facilities across the region due to cases of COVID-19 among residents/patients. While visitor restrictions are in place, each resident/patient on the impacted unit or facility is permitted to have one designated visitor.

Visitor restrictions are in place at the following facilities:

Burin Peninsula Health Care Centre, Burin: Visitor restrictions are temporarily in place for the medical/surgery unit. Visitation to the remainder of the site is not impacted at this time. Palliative care and end-of-life visitation should be discussed with the health-care team. Immediate family members may contact their assigned unit or the site at 709-891-1040 for further information.

Pleasant View Towers, St. John’s: Visitor restrictions are temporarily in place for 2 South West, 3 South West and 3 North East units. Visitation to the remainder of the site is not impacted at this time. Palliative care and end-of-life visitation should be discussed with the health-care team. Immediate family members may contact their assigned unit or the site at 709-752-8786 (2 South West), 709-752-8784 (3 South West), and 709-752-8805 (3 North East) for further information.

St. Clare’s Mercy Hospital, St. John’s: Visitor restrictions are temporarily in place for 4 West unit. Visitation to the remainder of the site is not impacted at this time. Palliative care and end-of-life visitation should be discussed with the health-care team. Immediate family members may contact their assigned unit or the site at 709- 777-5331 for further information.

Private Josiah Squibb Memorial Pavilion, Carbonear: Visitor restrictions are temporarily in place for both 2 South and 3 North units. Visitation to the remainder of the site is not impacted at this time. Palliative care and end-of-life visitation should be discussed with the health-care team. Immediate family members may contact their assigned unit or the site at 709-945-6240 (2 South) or 709-945-6241 (3 North) for further information.

Visitor restrictions remain in place at additional facilities across the region. These visitor restrictions are temporary measures to assist in reducing the spread of COVID-19 and will be reassessed regularly to determine when full visitation can safely resume.

Visitor restrictions have been lifted and regular visitation can resume at the following facilities:

Clarenville Protective Community Care Residence: Visitor restrictions, originally implemented on March 22, 2022, have been lifted.

Blue Crest Nursing Home, Grand Bank: Visitor restrictions, originally implemented on March 6, 2022, have been lifted.

Eastern Health reminds visitors of ongoing COVID-19 protocols in place at health-care facilities, including COVID-19 self-screening for visitors/support persons and masking requirements. The public is asked not to visit any health-care care facility if they feel ill or are symptomatic. For infection prevention, the public is advised to wash their hands frequently, cover their coughs or sneezes with a tissue or the crook of their arms and refrain from touching their faces.

These precautions are designed to help keep patients, clients, residents, visitors, staff and physicians safe and help in the prevention and spread of infection.
