Eastern Health Reviewing Mammogram Results of Multi-Patient Occurrence

August 31, 2022 – St. John’s, NL:  Eastern Health is advising that, as a result of its preliminary review into an issue first identified by Central Health with select mammography results, it has confirmed that some mammograms were being read on viewing workstations that do not meet technical standards for the review of mammography images. Eastern Regional Health Authority Undertaking Preliminary Review Within Diagnostic Imaging

August 23, 2022 – St. John’s, NL:  Eastern Health is advising we are conducting a preliminary review given a potential issue identified by Central Health with select mammography results. Eastern Health will provide a public update early next week on whether further analysis is required.

Eastern Health appreciates the importance of completing this work in a timely manner to address any potential concerns of patients, and thanks them for their patience.  At this time, patients do not need to contact their primary care provider or the regional health authority.

Eastern Health to Begin Providing Monkeypox Vaccine to Eligible Individuals

August 19, 2022 – St. John’s, NL:  Eastern Health is providing the Imvamune vaccine for the Monkeypox virus to eligible individuals starting today. This is based on the epidemiology of the outbreak in Canada, and following the lead of other jurisdictions in the country. Eligible individuals include:

  • Two-spirit people, transgender people, and cisgender males who self-identify as belonging to the gay, bisexual, queer, and men who have sex with men community, and meet at least one of the following criteria:
    • Have had sex with two or more partners in the last 90 days, or are planning to do so;
    • Have received a diagnosis of a sexually transmitted infection in the last six months;
    • Have attended, worked, or volunteered in venues or other locations for sexual contact within the past 90 days or may be planning to do so, whether in or outside of the province.

Individuals 50 Years and Over Now Eligible for Second Booster of COVID-19 Vaccine 

July 19, 2022 – St. John’s, NL: Eastern Health advises the public that individuals 50 years and over are now eligible to book appointments for a second booster dose of COVID-19 vaccine.  

Individuals may book appointments at clinics throughout the Eastern Health region by visiting www.gov.nl.ca/covid-19/vaccine/gettheshot/. For some vaccination clinics, appointments may be currently booked to capacity based on initial high demand. Appointments will continue to be added to the online booking system regularly and individuals are advised to continue to check availability.

Temporary Changes at Main Entrance of St. Clare’s Mercy Hospital 

June 17, 2022 – St. John’s, NL:Eastern Health informs the public of upcoming temporary changes at the main entrance of St. Clare’s Mercy Hospital. Beginning at 7:00 a.m. tomorrow, Saturday, June 18, 2022, a crane will be on site. Work is expected to last approximately two hours. During this time, access to the main entrance via St. Clare Avenue will be closed. Patients and visitors will be directed to the main visitor parking lot off Ricketts Road. Eastern Health Announces Changes in Operating Hours for COVID-19 Clinics at Village Mall

February 25, 2022 – St. John’s, NL: Eastern Health advises of new operating hours for the COVID-19 appointment-based and walk-in clinics at the Village Mall based on current demand. Starting this weekend, the clinics will remain open every second Saturday for first and second doses for individuals 12 years and older, booster doses for anyone 18 years of age and older and pediatric doses. The clinic at the Village Mall will be closed tomorrow and reopen on Monday, February 28, 2022. Individuals who had appointments scheduled for tomorrow will need to rebook. Eastern Health Provides Update on Visitor Restrictions

January 28, 2022 – St. John’s, NL: Eastern Health advises the public of updates to temporary visitor restrictions at facilities and sites across the region, as per provincial guidelines. All health-care facilities remain closed for general visitation with the exception of one support person for each resident/patient, including inpatients in a hospital setting and residents of long-term care homes, personal care homes, community care homes and assisted living facilities. The general public are reminded not to visit any patients or residents during this time unless they are the designated support person for the patient/resident they are visiting. January 14, 2022 – St. John’s, NL: Eastern Health advises that there will be a walk-in COVID-19 booster clinic today, Friday, January 14, 2022, from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Bay Bulls Recreation Centre, 48A Cemetery Lane West. This clinic will also provide curb-side vaccines for anyone who may have mobility requirements.
