Eastern Health Moving to Appointment Only COVID-19 Vaccine Clinic at the Village Mall

October 26, 2021 – St. John’s, NL: Eastern Health advises that, effective today, the Village Mall COVID-19 vaccine clinic will be by appointment only and will no longer be accepting walk-ins. Clinics throughout the region continue to offer first and second doses of vaccine to individuals 12 years and older. Individuals may book appointments throughout the Eastern Health region by visiting www.gov.nl.ca/covid-19/vaccine/gettheshot/ or by calling 1-833-951-3904 (toll-free). Construction Near Entrance of Janeway Children’s Health and Rehabilitation Centre Rescheduled

October 25, 2021 – St. John’s, NL: The crane lift that was scheduled for today (Monday, October 25, 2021) near the Janeway Children’s Health and Rehabilitation Centre has been postponed due to weather. Eastern Health Opens Additional Drive-Through COVID-19 Testing on the Burin Peninsula

UPDATE: October 24, 2021 – Eastern Health’s additional drive-through COVID-19 Testing Clinic on the Burin Peninsula on Sunday Oct. 24, is operating extended hours to accommodate the increase demand for testing in the area.

October 22, 2021 – St. John’s, NL: Eastern Health is offering a temporary COVID-19 testing clinic on the Burin Peninsula this weekend, in response to a recent rise in the number of COVID-19 cases in the region.

Testing is available by appointment only and will be held at the Marystown Community Service Building, 10-12 Harris Drive Industrial Park on:

  • Sunday, October 24 from 9:00 a.m. to midnight.

Eastern Health Implements Visitor Restrictions on the Burin Peninsula

October 22, 2021 – St. John’s, NL: Eastern Health advises the public of the implementation of temporary visitor restrictions for hospital patients and long-term care and personal care home residents at all facilities and sites on the Burin Peninsula, due to an increase in COVID-19 cases and ongoing investigation in the area. Effective immediately, two designated visitors and a support person (if required) are permitted for inpatients in a hospital setting and residents of long-term care homes. (more…)


Eastern Health Provides Update on Vaccine Passport Requirements for Visitation

October 21, 2021 – St. John’s, NL: Eastern Health advises that, in line with provincial guidelines regarding the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador’s vaccine passport, visitors to long-term care facilities, personal care homes and community care homes will be required to present proof of COVID-19 vaccination or an approved medical exemption, effective October 22, 2021. Eastern Health to Observe National Day for Truth and Reconciliation

September 20, 2021 – St. John’s, NL:  To commemorate the children and the families that are impacted by residential schools and to support survivors in healing and reconciling together, Eastern Health will join the Provincial Government in observing September 30, 2021, the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, as a statutory holiday. Eastern Health Launches Breastfeeding Support Services Survey

August 4, 2021 – St. John’s, NL: Eastern Health is launching an online breastfeeding support services survey to seek feedback from members of the public about their experiences with breastfeeding support services between February 2019 and February 2020. The survey will collect information regarding the delivery of breastfeeding support services during this period, prior to service interruptions due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The perspectives gathered will provide valuable feedback which will be used to help improve the breastfeeding support services offered at Eastern Health.

July 22, 2021 – St. John’s, NL: Eastern Health advises that, in line with provincial guidelines, general visitation is permitted, effective Friday, July 23, for all provincially-operated acute care facilities, health centres and long-term care facilities as well as privately-operated long-term care homes, personal care homes, and community care homes. While restrictions are eased, alternatives to in-person visiting are encouraged such as virtual visits, outdoor visits when possible, and phone calls when possible.

Eastern Health Encouraging Individuals to Cancel Duplicate COVID-19 Vaccine Appointments

July 20, 2021 – St. John’s, NL:  Eastern Health is reminding individuals of the importance of canceling appointments which are no longer required at COVID-19 vaccine clinics. This may include previously scheduled appointments due to a change in appointment time or location, i.e., getting a vaccine from a physician or pharmacist. Individuals may cancel their appointment through their reminder email, the Pomelo website or by calling 1-800-563-3692 between 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m., Monday to Friday.

June 30, 2021 – St. John’s, NL:  Eastern Health advises the public of a new temporary drive-through COVID-19 testing clinic for travellers who require a COVID-19 test upon arrival to the St. John’s International Airport and other entry points into the region. The testing clinic, which is by appointment only, will open on July 1, 2021, and hours of operation are 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 a.m., seven days a week.(*Effective July 11, 2021, the hours of operation are 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., seven days a week, but are subject to change based on demand.) Additional COVID-19 Clinics Added to Booking System for mRNA Vaccine

June 25, 2021 – St. John’s, NL: Eastern Health advises the public that additional first and second dose appointments are now available throughout the region. More appointments will be added next week and people are encouraged to check the Pomelo website. Based on the current vaccine supply, most of the Eastern Health clinics are now offering Moderna. COVID-19 Vaccination Clinics Available for Individuals with Increased Risk of Allergic Reaction to Vaccine

June 25, 2021 – St. John’s, NL: Eastern Health advises the public that they are arranging vaccine appointments for individuals who have been advised by either public health or their health-care provider that they should receive their first or second dose of COVID-19 vaccine in a hospital setting, due to an increased risk of a severe reaction to the vaccine. Reconfiguration of Visitor and Staff Parking Lots at Dr. L.A. Miller Centre

June 18, 2021 – St. John’s, NL: Eastern Health advises the public of a reconfiguration in parking lot locations at Dr. L.A. Miller Centre effective Monday, June 21, 2021. The current ‘visitor only’ parking lot will be relocated to the 9A/C parking lot near the Southcott Hall main block, and staff who previously parked at the 9A/C parking lot will move to the former ‘visitor only’ parking lot. Change in Date for COVID-19 Vaccination Clinic in Ferryland

June 18, 2021 – St. John’s, NL: Eastern Health advises that the COVID-19 vaccine clinic scheduled for Thursday, June 24 in Ferryland will now take place on Wednesday, June 23. Appointments previously scheduled for June 24 will automatically be transferred to the same time on June 23.
