November 14, 2021 – St. John’s, NL: Eastern Health advises that non-urgent outpatient blood collection appointments on Monday, November 15, 2021 at the Major’s Path location only, are cancelled, due to a delay in the resumption of some information technology (IT) services. Patients whose appointments are cancelled are asked to re-book through the online appointment booking system when it is reinstated. November 9, 2021 – St. John’s, NL: Eastern Health advises that it will be offering a mobile COVID-19 Vaccine Clinic for residents of Bell Island on Wednesday, November 10, 2021. November 8, 2021 – St. John’s, NL:  Eastern Health advises the public that visitor restrictions have been lifted and that general visitation is now open for hospital patients and long-term care and personal care home residents at all facilities and sites on the Burin Peninsula. Visitor restrictions were originally implemented in this area on October 22 due to an increase in COVID-19 cases and ongoing investigation in the area. November 6, 2021 – St. John’s, NL: Eastern Health advises that it is proceeding with radiation therapy treatments for cancer patients starting this evening, Saturday, November 6, 2021, following confirmation from the Newfoundland and Labrador Centre for Health Information (NLCHI) that the IT system for radiation oncology is now functional. The IT system for oncology is used by staff of the Cancer Care Program to communicate, document, plan, order and deliver cancer care services to the residents of Newfoundland and Labrador. Eastern Health Launches Community-Based Respiratory Program

October 28, 2021 – St. John’s, NL:  Eastern Health is announcing the launch of a new and innovative community-based comprehensive respiratory care (CRC) program which will make it easier for patients with chronic respiratory disease to access care in the community. The referral-based program provides preventative care and fosters self-management through enhanced education and supports that have the potential to significantly improve health outcomes and quality of life for those living with Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) and asthma. Services are provided by a registered respiratory therapist (RRT) who is also a certified respiratory educator who works in collaboration with the patient’s primary care provider to treat the patient. Eastern Health Moving to Appointment Only COVID-19 Vaccine Clinic at the Village Mall

October 26, 2021 – St. John’s, NL: Eastern Health advises that, effective today, the Village Mall COVID-19 vaccine clinic will be by appointment only and will no longer be accepting walk-ins. Clinics throughout the region continue to offer first and second doses of vaccine to individuals 12 years and older. Eastern Health Opens Additional Drive-Through COVID-19 Testing on the Burin Peninsula

UPDATE: October 24, 2021 – Eastern Health’s additional drive-through COVID-19 Testing Clinic on the Burin Peninsula on Sunday Oct. 24, is operating extended hours to accommodate the increase demand for testing in the area.

October 22, 2021 – St. John’s, NL: Eastern Health is offering a temporary COVID-19 testing clinic on the Burin Peninsula this weekend, in response to a recent rise in the number of COVID-19 cases in the region.

Testing is available by appointment only and will be held at the Marystown Community Service Building, 10-12 Harris Drive Industrial Park on:

  • Sunday, October 24 from 9:00 a.m. to midnight.

Phone Lines Impacted at Carbonear General Hospital

October 6, 2021 – St. John’s, NL:  Eastern Health advises the public that Carbonear General Hospital is currently experiencing problems with its inbound and outbound phone lines. The public are able to call the main switchboard at (709) 945-6246. In addition, Carbonear residents needing to call the fire department, should dial 911 as the direct lines are also experiencing problems. Private Josiah Squibb Memorial Pavillion is unaffected. September 17, 2021 – St. John’s: Eastern Health advises the public that tomorrow (Saturday, September 18, 2021), construction will be taking place near the main entrance of St. Clare’s Mercy Hospital which will result in the closure of the vehicle thoroughfare from St. Clare Avenue to the main entrance of the facility. September 16, 2021 – St. John’s, NL: Eastern Health advises that it will be holding a pop-up COVID-19 vaccine clinic at the Avalon Mall in St. John’s on Saturday, September 18 and Sunday, September 19, 2021. The walk-in clinic will be located on the lower level next to the Lululemon Court at the previous Claire’s location and will be open from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. It will offer first and second doses to individuals 12 years and older and appointments are not required. Eastern Health Offers Third COVID-19 Vaccine Dose to Moderately to Severely Immunocompromised Individuals
